Fire

Apreco have been at the forefront of pressure relief vent design in the fire suppression sector for many years. Apreco fire suppression vents provide protection against over-pressure in the case of inert gas systems such as IG-55 and Inergen and under-pressure venting with gases such as FM200 and NOVEC 1230. Our vents are also used in the pressurisation of stairwells.

Gaseous Fire Suppression Systems – under/over pressure venting

The Apreco range of fire suppression vents are designed specifically for over-pressure and under-pressure venting associated with inert and halocarbon Gaseous Fire Suppression Systems, as referred to in BS EN 15004-1:2019 and further detailed in ISO TS 21805:2018. Reference to pressure relief venting within NFPA 2001:2018 (FSSA Application Guide to Estimating Enclosure Pressure & Pressure Relief Vent Area for use with Clean Agent Fire Extinguishing Systems). Apreco fire suppression vents provide protection against over-pressure in the case of inert gas systems such as IG-55 and IG-541 and under-pressure venting with gases such as FM200 and NOVEC 1230.

Apreco fire suppression vents are offered in several standard sizes for installation in both internal and external walls. Providing market-leading performance across a range of pressures. Apreco fire suppression vents are designed to stay closed below 70Pa and fully open at typically between 100 – 125Pa, this allows annual integrity room tests to be performed without the need to block the vents whilst undertaking the test.

Apreco range of Pressure Relief Vents, sometimes called Pressure Relief Dampers, have been successfully tested to meet the free vent area and fire resistance requirements of critical installations.

Tall Buildings – pressurised stairwells

The pressurisation of stairwells is a common method of ensuring safe means of exit from a building on fire. A pressurisation system is intended to prevent smoke leaking past closed doors into stairs by injecting clean air into the stair enclosure such that the pressure in the stair is greater than the adjacent fire compartment. Then, if the stair door is opened, the system is intended to maintain a flow of air through the open doorway to oppose smoke flow and prevent contamination of the stair enclosure.

BS EN 12101-6:2005 requires pressurised fire escapes to be maintained at 50 Pa and limited to a maximum of 60 Pa.

Apreco’s extensive range of standard air Pressure Relief Vents sometimes referred to as Pressure Relief Dampers are characterised by their ease of installation and accuracy. They do not require any external power source as they work on a balanced blade system.
